Week 10 at a Glance

Recapping Week 9 of Essentials.  We looked at the compound structure, declarative purpose, S-Vl-PN pattern sentences with EEL tasks 1-4 on the analytical task sheet.  Loading the grammar, we delved into the linking verbs and the verb anatomy of "to be" and chart K.  In writing, we practiced taking notes from interesting facts/details but from a longer source text.

Here is a quick preview of Week 10:  We will be looking at the compound structure, declarative  purpose, S-Vl-PA pattern sentences with EEL tasks 1-4.  Loading the grammar, we will focus on adjectives and chart L while reviewing charts C,D,G, & K (Verbs, Principal Parts of Verbs, 112 Model Sentences of Compound Structure, Verb Anatomy of "To Be").

In writing, we will explore the next structural model, the STORY SEQUENCE, from Unit III of the IEW Teaching Writing:Structure and Style.  This model is designed to help your child write narratives. I will collect the French and Indian War papers to be read on 10/25/11 at the beginning of class.  Lesson 10 will take the entire class and any left-over time will be used for vocabulary review.  Vocabulary Quiz #3 will be given during the week of 11/8/11-11/14/11.

Don't forget your memorization work.  The "grab bag" is available for those who memorize 6 charts.

Have a wonderful week!
